Jim Carrey recently announced he is retiring from acting following his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, something that is bound to affect the future of the Sonic franchise. With the release of Sonic the Hedgehog in 2020, Carrey began playing the main villain of the Sonic franchise, Dr. Robotnik, in live-action. Since then, Carrey has reprised his role in the film's sequel, released in April 2022, with the actor expected to continue his role into the previously announced Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Following the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the subsequent press tour, Carrey revealed his retirement from acting as a whole.
