Last week, Gran Turismo 7's servers went down for just over 24 hours. The server outage was first explained as "extended maintenance," but later, game director Kazunori Yamauchi explained the true reason for the server outage was to protect everyone's data. A bug in the recently released 1.07 update could potentially have wiped players' saves, resulting in true catastrophe for the latest iteration of the Gran Turismo franchise.
Most agree that the server outage was a necessary step to protect the players, but some are still calling on Polyphony Digital to compensate players for the downtime. Reddit user Redphyrex's post listed several reasons why players should be compensated, including the loss of player progression, a ticket from the Daily Workout roulette, and “more importantly, we didn’t get to play a game we paid good money for."

Redphyrex noted that games like Genshin Impact will reward players with in-game currency whenever the servers go down. "Now, I am in no way saying we need compensation for every single maintenance — but we do deserve it for this one," wrote Redphyrex. "Right decision or not, we lost time. I was in the middle of making a livery design for the contest and now I’m a day behind as a result."
That livery contest has since been extended by an extra two days to make up for the server outage, but plenty of players are also asking for some sort of in-game reward for the server outage.
