A new mod for Skyrim was recently released which allows magic users to attack enemies with much more violent end results. Given that it's likely going to be a few years before The Elder Scrolls 6 is released, the modding community has been busy putting out all sorts of custom content that can improve or switch up the experience of Bethesda's 2011 epic RPG. If that means making the game gorier, then so be it.
Modders do like to mess around with Skyrim's magic system, such as a recent add-on that lets players utilize Blood Magic, allowing them to use HP to attack instead of their mana, or magicka as it's known in TES. It's a powerful system that can turn the Dragonborn into a fearful sorcerer, laying waste to any that stand before them without the need to keep a blade sharp or have a plentiful supply of arrows.

That's where this mod really kicks things up a notch on the violence-o-meter. As spotted by PCGamesN, «Maximum Destruction» is a fan-made modification for Skyrim that is for those players who really want to cause a lot of damage with magic. The creator, a user called D-Won, says it implements more gore into the game by affording players the opportunity to shatter their opponents into ice chunks or burn them until they're nothing but cinders. There's even an option to poison people, which will result in them puking and «showing signs of a poisonous death.» The mod also gives such gory abilities to enchanted weapons as well.
