Skyrim Fan Recreates Nordic Puzzle Door in Real Life
The Skyrim community puts together incredible fan art pretty frequently, often creating homages to their favorite characters, locations, or items. With Skyrim now 10 years old, an impressive number of these creations have circulated the internet, with a large range in quality and scope between each one. Now, one Skyrim fan has brought to life one of its most iconic pieces of architecture.
Puzzle doors are an important piece of Skyrim's Nordic ruins. In fact, Bleak Falls Barrow, which acts as a sort of tutorial dungeon for Skyrim, is centered around the Puzzle Door and its key, the Golden Claw. More of these keys are scattered around Skyrim's mountainous landscape, acting as a collectible trophy as players work through the game. Each key is paired with a Puzzle Door, though. Previously just seen in the digital world, Redditor u/energizerturtle2 has brought one into the physical world.

In a post to the r/Skyrim subreddit, energizerturtle2 shared a few photos of a Nordic Puzzle Door combo lock they made as part of a 2020 quarantine project. The user joked that it still has "some bugs," but apparently it's also going to be paired with a trunk, giving it a practical use. Energizerturtle2 even says that they tried to make a claw key to go along with it, but that they "failed horribly," and that the mechanism wouldn't rotate.
The Nordic Puzzle Door apparently took a few hours of work each day off and on for a few months to pull off, which means it was a pretty decent time investment.
