After over 25 years of marriage, Christine shockingly announced her divorce from Kody Brown. Sister Wives season 16 followed the Browns facing their most difficult challenge yet, the pandemic. The family was more divided than ever, as each household set its own rules for dealing with the pandemic. Family members in the various households were forced to spend much of the season away from one another. This was hard for the four wives' children, as they were not able to see their father and siblings very often. It ultimately led to the biggest surprise of the season. Though many fans wished Christine would leave Kody for years, his strict COVID rules, his reluctance to move back to Utah, and their lack of a physical relationship led Christine to officially announce that she'd left their spiritual union.
