All six films in the Alien franchise have been combined in a new must-watch fan-edit montage. The hit sci-fi horror series began back in 1979 when the original Alien was released. Helmed by visionary director Ridley Scott, Alien quickly developed a reputation as a landmark film in the horror sci-fi genre. The film follows the crew of the spacecraft Nostromo after they encounter an alien life form on a distant planet and are hunted down one by one. Alien stars Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt and Ian Holm.
Following the success of Alien, the film spawned many subsequent films (and comics and games), with the franchise having its ups and downs over the years. In 1986, the film got its first sequel Aliens, which was both written and directed by James Cameron. This followup took a more action-packed direction with the story than Scott's original brooding film, and as the title suggests, this time there were multiple alien Xenomorphs. Aliens was also a massive success, and it is a point of contention between fans as to whether it might actually be a better film than its predecessor. In 1992 the franchise continued with Alien 3, which is mostly remembered as the film that nearly ended director David Fincher's career before it began. Alien: Resurrection followed in 1997, and was the final film to star Sigourney Weaver. The film was not critically acclaimed and ended the franchise (excluding the Alien vs. Predator films) for quite some time until Scott released his prequel Prometheus in 2012. This was followed up by a second prequel by Scott in 2017 entitled Alien: Covenant.
