One of The Sims fans’ favorite in-game causes of death has officially come to The Sims 4 thanks to a new — and free — game update. Sims players have been finding ways to kill their Sims since the franchise's very first instalment, and new death scenarios are often highly-requested from the community.
Dying in The Sims 4 is not necessarily a comedic accident, but it often is, especially considering how foolish the cause or the circumstances might be. One fan, for instance, shared a grim yet ridiculous story of a Sim predicting their own death with a painting. The Sims 4 has introduced new and varying ways for Sims to die over the years since it first released, though many players feel it's much harder to kill Sims in Sims 4 than it has been in previous games. This is in part due to a lack of items that can cause sudden death.

Today's June 14 The Sims 4 free game update has been revealed by EA, confirming that death by meteorite is now possible. The news comes alongside the new addition of the small telescope item, which will offer a more portable way for Sims to stargaze. Doing so will now come at Sims' own peril, as the patch notes warn:
"Viewing the night sky can be dangerous work. If your Sim notices something is coming straight for them… get inside quickly! Death by meteorite is now a thing! So are meteorite ghosts! Who knew?"
The new death item is joined by a host of gameplay additions in order to prepare for the upcoming paid Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack. Today's free base game update will add lunar cycles, Create-a-Sim items, Scenarios, and more, with full details available on the EA website.
