It really shouldn't come as a surprise, but Konami has now announced series creator Hideo Kojima is not involved in the development of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The remake is led by Konami itself with assistance from port team Virtuos Studio, and artist Yoji Shinkawa isn't part of the production either. «They are not involved,» a spokesperson from Konami told IGN.
The statement then continues to say «the development team will work hard to create this remake and also the ports (for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection) so that they can be enjoyed on multiple platforms by even more players all around the world».
As for why Konami chose to start any remaking efforts with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it pointed towards how it's the first game in the timeline. «We chose Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater because it depicts the birth of Big Boss, which is the starting point of the Metal Gear series. Another reason is that many fans have been requesting a remake of this game for a long time.»
It was always a pipe dream to have Hideo Kojima return to Konami to work on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater after his fallout and eventual exit from the company. He now heads up Kojima Productions, with Death Stranding 2 currently in the works for PS5. Kojima's work will be able to be enjoyed on Sony's current-gen console with the aforementioned Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, though. It's bringing the original Metal Gear Solid on PS1, and the PS3 remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater to PS5 later this year.
