A reliable insider has claimed that Sega wants to make Persona, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Like a Dragon (which it currently views as its three main pillars) yearly releases through mainline entries, spin-offs, and side games.
Although Sega admittedly spent the last few generations in a bit of a rocky place (Sonic Forces, I'm looking at you), it seems to have finally found its footing in recent years by mostly relying on its heavy-hitters like Sonic, Persona, and Like a Dragon. Although we know it's got a lot of plans to bring back its classic titles, it seems that won't slow it down when it comes to those three series.
We've seen this a lot over the past year with the release of games like Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, and Sonic Frontiers as mainline entires in Sega's big series, but there have also been a lot of smaller titles releases to go alongside them. Persona 5 Tactica, Like A Dragon: Gaiden, and Sonic Superstars are just a few clear examples of Sega trying to push these series further through smaller releases.
Sega's business model and approach to releases when it comes to Persona, Yakuza, and Sonic has been made pretty clear recently, but if there was ever any doubt then reliable insider MbKKssTBhz5 has backed up what we've all been thinking. Over on Twitter, they reported that the current plan at Sega is to "make Like a Dragon, Persona, and Sonic annual franchises through new titles, remakes, and remasters, DLC expansions and other media".
We've already seen Like A Dragon and Sonic do this fairly consistently over the past few years, but Persona does raise some eyebrows considering how long we've all been waiting for Persona 6.
