Like the word in its title, Marvel Studios' upcoming Secret Invasion series remains a big mystery, more so than a lot of the shows that are making their way to Disney Plus in 2022. Now, the new set photos that have surfaced online may hint at when the show will take place in the MCU timeline.
Filming for the Marvel Studios project is underway in Leeds, after set photos released by the Yorkshire Evening Post revealed the series' two stars gearing up for a shoot. While MCU newcomer Emilia Clarke was spotted wearing a dark green jacket, it was Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury trading in his leather black jacket and eye patch for more rugged look with his large beard and torn beanie that generated a lot of attention, so much that many people now can guess where Secret Invasion fits in the MCU.

According to Inverse, Fury's new look makes the character seem as if he is incognito or retired, hinting that the events of Secret Invasion could take place long after Avengers: Endgame. Reports also point out that Fury not rocking an eye patch could possibly mean that the series takes place right after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a period of time when Fury's whereabouts were unknown and also the last time he was seen without his eye patch.
Whatever appears to be the case, Secret Invasion is shaping up to be one Marvel Studios' most exciting upcoming projects and one that will give Fury a greater exploration of his character, something that has not been seen all too much in past MCU films. The series follows Nick Fury as he reunites with the friendly intergalactic Skrull Talos to help take down other rogue Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth and taken great positions of power.
