Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush Rumored to be Jumping to PlayStation and/or Switch

Could Rare’s Sea of Thieves be setting sail to Sony and Nintendo platforms? In recent days, insider Nate the Hate got the rumor mill churning when he stated a “acclaimed” Xbox exclusive may make the jump to other platforms. Piggybacking on these rumors, on the most recent episode of Game Mess Mornings wanton leaker Jeff Grubb said Sea of Thieves was his first thought when talk of an Xbox game coming to other platforms surfaced, as he’s heard the game “could” come to Switch and PlayStation.

"Sea of Thieves, right---I'll say I've heard that is one that might be coming to other platforms. When I first started hearing these rumors, I was like, 'Oh this is probably about Sea of Thieves, because I've heard that could come to Switch and PlayStation.' And maybe that might be the kind of thing where like, actually all of this stuff is happening, and Microsoft is kind of trying to rejigger its strategy."

Well-connected former Kotaku editor-in-chief Stephen Totilo claims he’s also heard Microsoft has “looked into” bringing Sea of Thieves of PlayStation (he hasn’t heard about Switch). Totilo reached out to Microsoft about the possibility of Sea of Thieves going multiplatform, but, unsurprisingly, got no response.

Interestingly, it was not Sea of Thieves most people were initially talking about following Nate the Hate’s “acclaimed” port rumor, but rather, Hi-Fi Rush. ResetEra poster lolilolailo, who has delivered inside information in the past, chimed in to say they’d heard Switch and PS5 versions of Hi-Fi Rush were in development, but the Switch version may have been dropped. On Game Mess Mornings, Jeff Grubb also deemed a Hi-Fi Rush port plausible, as he’s heard Microsoft is investing in Tango Gameworks…
