Actor Matthew Lillard, who is best known for his roles in films like Scream and Scooby-Doo, returns to the horror genre with a new technology-driven project. Lillard has starred in a variety of film and TV projects, from dramedy series like Good Girls to romcoms like She's All That.The majority of Lillard's Hollywood experience is in front of the camera, but he has a few directing and producing credits as well.
According to Deadline, Lillard and writer/director Bill Whirity are teaming up for Midnite Movie Club, an NFT (non-fungible token) project that is described as a «decentralized movie studio.» Essentially, the organization will be made up of audience members and other fans who, using blockchain technology, will get equally say on what films the company creates. Midnite Movie Club will focus on movies in the horror, sci-fi, action/adventure, and fantasy space. Midnite Movie Club has already selected its first project — a vampire film titled Let Them Die which is set to go into production this summer. In the future, members of the Decentralized Autonomous Organization will not only decide what films to make but get to give input on major production decisions from casting to costumes to marketing.
