Scream 2022 followed the franchise’s style of satirizing current trends not only in the horror genre but in cinema in general, but it missed a huge opportunity by not having a post-credits scene. Set 25 years after the events of the first Scream movie, Scream 2022 takes viewers back to Woodsboro, where a new Ghostface killer has started a new murder spree and is targeting both survivors of past killings and new victims. When Tara (Jenna Ortega) is attacked, her estranged sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) returns to Woodsboro to look after her and find out who’s behind this new wave of murders, but her return triggers some big revelations. With Ghostface back, old secrets also come to light, and the killer begins to target those related to past killers and murder sprees, which leads Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Dewey Riley (David Arquette), and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) to join forces one more time to discover who’s behind the mask and stop the murders one more time.
