There's been a bit of a reorganisation at the top of Microsoft's games business.
That's according to The Verge, which reports that Sarah Bond (pictured) has been promoted to president of Xbox. In this new role, she will be in charge of the company's platform and hardware work. Meanwhile, Matt Booty is now president of game content and studios. He was previously head of Xbox Game Studios, but this new responsibility puts him in charge of ZeniMax Media, which had previously operated independently despite being owned by Microsoft.
“ZeniMax will continue to operate as a limited integration entity led by Jamie Leder, President and CEO, reporting to Matt,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer wrote in an internal memo.
He continues: “Great games are fundamental to everything we do. We believe that an expanded gaming content organization — one that enables Xbox Game Studios and ZeniMax’s development studios to collaborate effectively together — will empower those world-class studios to do their best work in growing our portfolio of games players love.”
Bond joined Microsoft in 2017 as CVP of gaming partnerships and business development. Three years later, she rose to corporate vice president of Xbox.
Meanwhile, chief marketing officer and long time Microsoft employee Chris Capossela is leaving the company.
