Samsung has developed OLED variants that can be applied to almost any product. We have seen home appliances where iteration after iteration would have such displays added, showing valuable information to the owner. Now, the company has introduced a rather cool concept; bringing the same OLED technology, downsizing it, and incorporating it into the Galaxy Buds case. The only problem is that the Korean giant has not mentioned when such a product will arrive for the masses.
A small clip from CNET’s senior editor, Lisa Eadicicco, was uploaded on YouTube, showing the OLED case belonging to the Galaxy Buds. Samsung or Apple have yet to bring anything remotely similar to their wireless earbuds, and some might believe that it is high time that they did because such an addition brings another level of convenience and will be highly useful for earbud owners who suffer from battery anxiety. As you can see in the video below, the display shows crucial information such as the time and how much battery is remaining.
Unfortunately, Eadicicco has mentioned in the short clip that Samsung will not be mass producing the Galaxy Buds OLED case for any market. For one thing, adding these displays is a costly venture, meaning Samsung has to spend millions to bring these panels to the Galaxy Buds case. Another drawback is that given how small these cases are physically, there is a limit to how big of a battery can be found inside.
Adding an OLED panel will chew through that battery life like there is no tomorrow, meaning there will be little juice remaining for the Galaxy Buds to deliver a satisfactory runtime. In theory, it sounds like a terrific concept, but in practicality, it might prove to be something despised by the user.
