In August of 2020, the sequel, Rogue Legacy 2 released in early access, promising to improve upon its predecessor in a number of ways.
Flash forward about two years, and Rogue Legacy 2 has just received a full 1.0 release, and if the staggeringly high critical reviews are anything to go by, it seems as though it fulfilled its promise. One of the key improvements Rogue Legacy 2 has made over its predecessor is the introduction of 15 character classes, each one boasting unique weapons and abilities. As is the case with each class in Rogue Legacy 2, the Pirate class has its own unique weapon. Where the Knight has a sword, and the Mage wields sorceries, the Pirate relies on a gigantic cannon to get the job done.
This cannon acts as both a melee weapon and a ranged weapon simultaneously. Players can swing the cannon in a wide arc in front of them, damaging their opponents while also inflicting some serious knockback. This melee attack can then be immediately followed up by a powerful ranged shot from the cannon.
With the Pirate class, every attack made while dashing is a Skill Crit, meaning it delivers higher damage. This includes both the cannon's melee and ranged attack, which both dish out more damage if the player executes the attack
