The latest incarnation of the Dark Knight from the upcoming The Batman, played by Robert Pattinson, has been reimagined in the animation style of Batman: The Animated Series in a stunning piece of fan art. Fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of an all-new interpretation of the Batman mythos when director Matt Reeves' long-awaited blockbuster releases in March. The film will see a more back-to-basics approach to Batman, who's only in the second year of his crime-fighting career. and will be outside of any current DCEU canon.
Though it may be set early in his career, the film will feature several hallmarks from Batman’s 80+ year publication history. This includes classic rogues like the Riddler (Paul Dano), Penguin (Colin Farrell), and Catwoman (Zoë Kravtiz), as well as allies in Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) and his faithful butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis). With Batman being one of the most popular comic book characters of all time, the filmmakers clearly have enough faith in audiences' established knowledge that they can ostensibly hit the ground running with this new version without the need for much backstory.

In anticipation of the movie, Instagram user @millicay.art has produced a striking piece of fan art that has reimagined Pattinson’s Batman in the style of Bruce Timm’s art seen in the beloved cartoon Batman: The Animated Series. The piece has Batman standing in front of a moon-lit red sky, as was a common stylistic choice when depicting Gotham in B:TAS. Batman himself is translated into Timm’s signature style of a simple but effective silhouette, complete with a barrel chest and a defined square jaw.
