Robert Pattinson says he tried on every previous Batman suit for his audition for The Batman. Pattinson is the latest actor to embody The Dark Knight in director Matt Reeves' take on the famed DC Comics superhero, which is set to release next month. The actor is joined in The Batman by a cast that includes Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
Pattinson joins a long list of actors that have played The Caped Crusader over the years, starting with Robert Lowery and Lewis Wilson in the 1940s serials, and then Adam West in the 1960s TV show. Feature film versions began with Michael Keaton for Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns, then Val Kilmer for Batman Forever, George Clooney for Batman & Robin, Christian Bale for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, and most recently Ben Affleck for Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman and Justice League. Affleck and Keaton are both set to reprise their respective Batman roles in this year's The Flash, which will establish DC's version of the multiverse, allowing both Batmen to exist in the same universe. Each Batman has worn a different take on the iconic cape and cowl, which is again set to be reimagined for Pattinson's iteration.
