It's the 30th anniversary of Image Comics' founding and Rob Liefeld is returning to the company he helped launch to revive Prophet #1. The classic story is getting an updated look thanks to Liefeld and a veritable trove of talented comic creators, and is set to release July 20th, 2022.
Liefeld founded Image Comics in 1992 along with fellow comic book figures Todd MacFarlane, Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, Erik Larsen, Jim Valentino and Whilce Portacio. The launch of Image was a huge step for comic creators, allowing them to publish work that they would retain copyrights to. Among the many new comics introduced to the world at Image was Liefeld's Youngblood, the story of a government-sanctioned superhero team. Youngblood would feature the first appearance of Prophet, a super-soldier character that eventually received his own self-titled spinoff. Prophet and Youngblood's popularity among readers helped put Rob Liefeld and Image Comics on the map.
