Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has commented on the status of Archie and Betty's fledging romance moving forward. Originally premiering on The CW in 2017, the series was incredibly well-received by both fans and critics, complimenting its dark and modern take on the original Archie Comics source material. Ever since, the series has had six seasons, with a seventh and final Riverdale season confirmed for later this year.
Riverdale follows the titular small town and its mysterious past as iconic Archie comics staples such as Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Jughead Jones attempt to uncover the secrets their hometown holds. The talented cast includes the likes of KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Erinn Westbrook, and Mädchen Amick. Over the course of Riverdale season 5 and 6, longtime friends, Archie and Betty, began a romance that has been repeatedly tested, most recently by TBK. Now, Aguirre-Sacasa is clearing up any confusion over Archie and Betty's relationship status.

In the interview with TVLine, Aguirre-Sacasa recapped the musical episode's events and spoke about where they left off with our favorite characters. Specifically, the EP touched on how Betty's relationship with Archie was affected by her killing TBK, stating that they are on solid ground after overcoming this demon from her past and the two committing to a relationship together.
