A week after her racially insensitive social media posts were discovered, Jennie Nguyen has been let go from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Though the Bravo personality released an apology, it was quite poorly received. Jennie joined the cast of RHOSLC season 2 and was initially set to return for season 3. However, viewers were horrified to see that she liked and shared offensive posts insulting Black Lives Matter and making light of police violence.
The backlash was immediate, and Jennie's now-former co-stars joined in. Jen Shah called Jennie's posts "horrible" in a statement that even her nemesis Meredith Marks applauded. Meredith initially just tweeted, "Vile," insisting that Bravo wouldn't let them comment directly, before releasing a longer, pro-BLM statement following Jen's post. Some of the Utah housewives previously defended Jen or Mary Cosby in regard to their own scandals. But in this instance, the cast was unanimous in distancing themselves from Jennie, as all of them unfollowed her on social media. However, the network had not officially responded to her racist actions until now.

The news of Jennie's firing was announced on Tuesday, January 25, on the official Bravo Instagram page. The network's announcement read, "Bravo has ceased filming with Jennie Nguyen and she will no longer be a cast member of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.'" Acknowledging viewers' disappointment that it took so long to address Jennie's racist activities, the statement continued, «We recognize that we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention.» Just before the network's
