Former The View co-host Meghan McCain says that Jennie Nguyen, newbie cast member of The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City, should not have been dismissed by Bravo for her social media posts. Jennie came under fire recently for racially insensitive Facebook posts about the Black Lives Matter movement. The posts made light of running over protesters, invoked the objectionable trope about "black on black" crime and suggested that George Floyd died from a drug overdose (not police brutality) to name just few. The posts, made in 2020, had the public up in arms and demanding for her to be fired.
Dragged for the posts upon their discovery, Jennie went on the apology trail, issuing her first mea culpa via Instagram. "At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were" she said. When that didn't resonate as expected, she tried again on an Instagram Live joined by her friend, a black man named Michael, who vouched unwaveringly for his friend's character. This attempt had viewers accusing her of playing the "I have black friends" card and did little to advance her effort.
