A new trailer for WWE 2K22 has been released, showing off the return of the MyGM mode.
GM mode, which lets players become the General Manager of one of the WWE’s brands, hasn’t been seen in the series since WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008.
The new trailer, narrated by Stephanie McMahon, shows that the mode’s general structure is similar to that last seen 15 years ago.

In MyGM mode, players choose a General Manager – which from the trailer appears to include Adam Pearce, Sonya Deville, Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon or a created character – and are then tasked with picking one of the WWE’s brands, including Raw and Smackdown.
Players then have to take part in the WWE Draft to establish their initial roster of superstars, and can then ‘book’ shows, deciding who fights in each match. According to the trailer, players will also be able to sign free agents to freshen up the roster.
The aim is to set up rivalries and put on crowd-pleasing shows to become the highest rated WWE brand.
Earlier this month, 2K Sports released a gameplay ‘deep dive’ video breaking down the new combat system in WWE 2K22.
One of the things WWE 2K20 was criticised for was its sluggish controls and the game’s emphasis on reversals, and 2K’s new video confirms that both have been completely revamped with the addition of block and dodge moves.
When it releases on March 11, WWE 2K22 will be the first WWE 2K title since the series skipped an annual release due to the disastrous launch of WWE 2K20.
WWE 2K20 was a disappointing full debut for developer Visual Concepts, resulting in one of the lowest Metacritic scores in 2K’s history, mostly due to a huge number of technical issues at release.
