RHOP: Why It's So Easy To Root For Ashley Darby Post-Separation
Fans of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Potomac have seen controversy after controversy surrounding Ashley Darby's husband, Michael Darby, and most are on Ashley's side amid their split. Cheating accusations, gay rumors, and sexual harassment claims plagued Michael for years. With news breaking that the two separated in April, and season 7 approaching, many people are relieved that Ashley is going it alone.
It's true that Ashley has always been a polarizing member of the RHOP cast, as she's caused her fair share of drama among the women. She stood by her husband, seemingly excusing even his most outrageous conduct. However, by the same token, she's constantly the first to embrace having a good time, as she is known for letting loose. She has provided a few iconic moments throughout the show's six-year (and counting) lifespan. In the most recent seasons, it has become more and more apparent to the women that Ashley deserves a better life partner.

In 2017, during RHOP season 5, there was a pivotal moment between Ashley and Michael, when Ashley agreed to sign an extension to the pair's prenuptial agreement. The document stated that if they were to get divorced before the three-year mark, she'd receive a “certain lump sum amount.” However, if they split after the three-year mark, she'd get half of everything. When news of the separation broke, fans were quick to dig that clip from the show up, and realized that the pair had been together for eight years. As a result, speculation spread through the Housewives fanbase that Ashley might have been planning to separate for a while, and wanted to be sure she'd receive half.
