Resident Evil fans had high expectations for PlayStation's State of Play for June 2022 and Capcom has delivered. The show started off with the announcement of a remake for Resident Evil 4, but that wasn't it for Resident Evil's announcements. Capcom also revealed that 2021's hugely popular Resident Evil Village would be coming to a new platform — virtual reality. Resident Evil Village is officially in development for release via the PS5's upcoming PSVR 2 headset.
Capcom made the announcement with a short 90-second trailer during Thursday's State of Play presentation. The trailer focused entirely on first-person virtual reality gameplay, giving Resident Evil fans a close look at what Resident Evil Village will look like on PSVR 2. The good news is that it looks just as high quality as Resident Evil Village already does on modern platforms. The bad news is that the trailer was relatively limited in scope. Resident Evil fans will have to wait for a deeper dive into the VR game.
Rumor: Resident Evil 8 Will Support PSVR
The trailer for Resident Evil Village VR on PS5 focused entirely on a single section of the game, that being the popular Castle Dimitrescu region. That means players got an excellent look at Lady Dimitrescu and her up close and personal interactions, including her intimately drinking blood from Ethan's wrist. Lady Dimitrescu's daughters are also heavily featured in the trailer, hinting at the intense encounters players will face with each of them.
While the Resident Evil Village VR PSVR 2 trailer doesn't show much in terms of gameplay, with little movement and only brief combat encounters are with the sickle-wielding Moroaicas, fans shouldn't stress. Capcom has confirmed that the full Resident Evil Village story
