Zombies aren't the only dangers facing humanity in the future as seen in the new Resident Evil show trailer. Based on the Capcom survival horror video games, the series will be set in two timelines of 2022 and 2036, the former of which will center on half-twins Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon City with their father, Albert Wesker, as he works with the Umbrella Corporation to help restore their image. The future timeline will see Jade struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland following the T-virus spreading across the world once again, while also dealing with the demons of her past.
Ella Balinska is leading the cast of Resident Evil as an older Jade alongside Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker, Turlough Convery, Droxzyfps, Connor Gosatti, Lea Vivier, Paola Nuñez, Tamar Smart, Siena Agudong and Adeline Rudolph. Developed by Supernatural vet Andrew Dabb, the series was first announced to be in development in mid-2020 after franchise producers Constantin Films struggled to adapt Resident Evil for a live-action TV show for over a decade. Filming on Resident Evil ran from early to mid 2021 and the series is now gearing up for a July premiere on Netflix.
