Netflix’s Geeked Week continues with more trailers, teasers, and behind-the-scenes looks at the streaming giant’s upcoming shows. Yesterday we got to see the set of One Piece and discover how Netflix is building a fleet of wooden sailing ships around the coast of South Africa, and now we’re discovering just how amazing the future was right up until Umbrella corporation unleashed the zombie apocalypse.
It’s no secret that Resident Evil will end in a crush of zombies, but how the T-virus is once again unleashed on an unsuspecting population is the show’s big mystery. In the latest trailer, we see Albert Wesker working hard at Umbrella Corp, "a company besieged by scandal" that’s "now trying to reinvent itself." Yes, this show acknowledges the previous Resident Evil canon and will even explain how Wesker has two children and somehow survived being shot with a rocket launcher at the bottom of a volcano.

After developing products to help humanity, Wesker (played by Lance Reddick) admits that they may have created a drug that contained the T-virus--the same virus that turns humans into zombies and various creatures into giant bloodthirsty monsters. The trailer shows us a huge caterpillar breaking through the pavement, hyper-violent rats, Resident Evil’s iconic blood-stained Dobermans, and of course, tons and tons of zombies.
After the fall of New Raccoon City, it looks like the world soon follows, leaving daughter Jade Wesker (played by Ella Balinska and Tamara Smart) to pick up the pieces. We’ll find out just how successful she is when Resident Evil starts streaming on July 14.
