Let it never be said that gamers don't have a sense of humor, as it turns out that some Resident Evil 4 fans have been trolling newcomers to the remake with a little trick that gets Leon killed instantly. History is filled with video games that troll their players, such as by locking the true ending behind a harder difficulty or subverting tropes and expectations. Likewise, gamers themselves are only too keen to be a little mischievous from time to time.
As one of the most influential horror games of all time, the original Resident Evil has somehow managed to stand the test of time. While Capcom's series does have a few lulls here and there, the franchise has largely remained consistent in terms of success. Alongside bringing the world brand-new entries, the developer has also been reviving some classic RE games, and it's the remake of the fourth entry that's bringing out the inner troll in people.
Resident Evil 4 Features an Obscure Nod to the Unreleased RE 3.5
As reported by Kotaku, there are a number of Resident Evil 4 fans who are using the remake to have a little fun with newcomers. Based on prior knowledge of the original 2005 release, veterans of RE4 are tricking players into getting Leon Kennedy killed by convincing them to shoot the lake. Unsuspecting players will oblige, having been told there are hidden goodies, only for the gigantic Del Lago creature to come bursting out of the water to swallow the rookie cop whole. It's a sneaky trick, but no doubt hilarious to those witnessing new players who suddenly find themselves in the mouth of the enormous beast.
