Meta is reportedly investigating allegations that Sheryl Sandberg, who served as Facebook's COO for 14 years before resigning on June 1, used company resources for personal gain.
The Wall Street Journal reports(Opens in a new window) that, according to anonymous sources, Meta's review "has been under way since at least last fall" and is looking into "behavior going back several years."
The investigation reportedly concerns allegations that Sandberg used Facebook's resources to support her Lean In foundation, assist with marketing for her second book, and plan her upcoming wedding to Kelton Global CEO Tom Bernthal, among other things.
Meta didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson for Sandberg previously told the Journal that "Sheryl did not inappropriately use company resources in connection with the planning of her wedding." The other allegations have not been addressed.
Sandberg wrote in the Facebook post announcing her resignation that she would be "focusing more on my foundation and philanthropic work, which is more important to me than ever given how critical this moment is for women," and that she would remain on Meta's board of directors.
Meta didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
