Red Dead Redemption remake rumours have been swirling all week since the game was rated again in South Korea. Fans pointed out that the rating mentions gore, whereas the original didn't--in fact, RDR2 is one of only three games to have this descriptor. Then yesterday, Rockstar updated the game's website, and today, fans discovered that achievements have been updated with an HD lick of paint.
This was highlighted by Rockstar dedicated news reporter Ben, and discovered by Spider-Vice and Nikhilmao. The old achievement icons are much blurrier with faded colours, while the new ones have deeper blacks and crisper edges, popping more clearly. However, Ben notes that "it's impossible to understand the exact age of these updated achievements, so it's important to continue to take this *rumor* with a grain of salt."

There is one concern among fans and that's whether the new achievement art has been AI upscaled. The infamous GTA Trilogy used AI upscaling to remaster certain textures, which broke a lot of the text and key designs. For instance, Tuff Nut's giant bolt became a donut, while shop signs listed things like "Guitar Henk Booths Available" instead of "Guitar Wank Booths Available". There's a precedent for using these tools.
Some believe the mistakes are purposeful, however. "While they kind of look like Ai Upscaled images the 'errors' look too abnormal," Ambushments_ said. "So they could have just [redrawn] them to look bad on purpose because they are meant to be aged (ink falling off)."
