A Red Dead Redemption 2 playerused their Dead Eye ability right as lightning struck the countryside in the middle of a storm. Using the ability gave the player a better look at the lightning as it struck in slow motion. The video appeared to have been shot in Red Dead Redemption 2's single player story mode.
The Dead Eye mechanic was originally introduced in the first Red Dead game, Red Dead Revolver all the way back in May 2004. While the mechanics slightly differ in each installment, they all effectively do the same thing. It allows the player to slow down time, mark a target or multiple targets, and quickly gun them down. Using Dead Eye in Red Dead Redemption 2 requires a little more finesse but can give players a huge advantage in a desperate gun battle. Sometimes, however, Dead Eye mode can be used to view a fast-moving object in slow motion.

In the past Red Dead Redemption 2 players have caught lighting in the photo mode before but rarely do they use Dead Eye mode to capture it. The new video was shared by Reddit user SweetGulaman16 on the game's page, where they say they caught the lightning in Dead Eye. It's not entirely clear where the lightning lands, as it may have hit a nearby tree or somewhere else in the distance, though a commenter noted the area around the tree in question appeared to be scorched.
This wouldn't be the first time someone caught lightning in such a cool way. One Red Dead Redemption 2 player was struck by lightning as they walked around camp.
