A video game controller that smells like food is usually considered disgusting, but Microsoft has created an Xbox controller that it says smells like fresh pizza.
The "first ever" pizza-scented controllers are a tie-in for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie, which hits theaters on Aug. 2.
"Designed to deliver the smell of the Turtles’ beloved meal to your game time, these exclusive Xbox Wireless Controllers come with a built-in scent diffuser shaped like a slice of delicious New York ‘za,” Microsoft said in its announcement(Opens in a new window).
The controllers promise to immerse you into the TMNT world when playing one of their games, such as the critically acclaimed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. But we’re not sure if we want that much immersion.
The good news is that if you’re tired of the smell, you can remove the pizza-shaped scent diffuser, which sits behind the hardware. The device then becomes a traditional Xbox controller decked out in a unique TMNT-inspired design.
"The controller comes in four variations, each representing the signature colors, weapons, and personality of a Turtle brother: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo,” Microsoft says.
However, you won’t be able to buy the limited-edition product. Instead, the company plans on giving away the controllers as part of contest that starts today and runs until Aug. 13. To enter, Microsoft says users should follow the official Xbox Game Pass on Twitter account(Opens in a new window), and then retweet the Xbox Game Pass sweepstakes tweet once it’s up.
