The partnership between Qualcomm and Samsung is said to be blossoming, as a new rumor claims that a custom SoC is in the works and it will exclusively be found in a future Galaxy series. The San Diego chipmaker could be looking to extend its ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy’ strategy by coming up with an even more capable solution.
Where the Galaxy S23 lineup featured an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Revegnus has put out a tweet, stating that Qualcomm has bigger plans and it will not be limited to releasing a Snapdragon chipset with increased CPU and GPU frequencies. Though the specifics are unknown at this time, the individual says that a custom chipset will be developed for the Galaxy series.
He does mention that this new silicon will arrive in 2025, so if we go by the naming scheme that Qualcomm adopted when it announced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, this chipset will co-exist alongside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Interestingly enough, Revegnus implies that this unnamed SoC will be present with the dedicated Exynos chip for the same Galaxy series. Judging by his claim, it appears that some Exynos versions of Galaxy smartphones will be shipped to different regions, just like before, with the Qualcomm variant likely being available for customers in the U.S.
