A Reddit user has created mock-up size comparison images to show how much smaller the new ‘slim’ PlayStation 5 is.
Sony officially announced a new, smaller PS5 model on Tuesday, which will be available in standard and Digital editions.
According to Sony, the new PS5 console has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and in weight by 18% and 24% respectively compared to the current model.
However, while Sony’s announcement came with information on the new models’ dimensions, it didn’t provide a visual comparison to show how much smaller it is than the launch PS5 models.
To help with this, Reddit user NatureCertain has posted their own mock-up images, with 3D models created to the dimensions officially provided by Sony.
The gallery, which consists of five images and can be seen below, shows the old and new PS5 models standing side-by-side, demonstrating a clear difference in size.

The new design features four separate cover panels, with the top portion in a glossy look, and the bottom portion in matte.
Launching this November in the US before rolling out elsewhere over the following months, the new model will come with 1TB storage for both editions.
The recommended retail prices for the new PS5 model are as follows:
This representsa $50 increase in price for the Digital Edition in the US. Both versions will also be more expensive than the launch models in Japan.
The new PS5 also requires a $30 stand if users want to stand the console upright.
