The classic PlayStation Portable-era shooter Resistance: Retribution has received trophies as part of an update bringing it to Sony's PS Plus Premium Classics catalog. Part of the PlayStation-exclusive Resistance sci-fi series, Resistance: Retribution is the second game in the series to become playable on PS4 and PS5, after Resistance 3.
Developed by Bend Studio, Resistance: Retribution originally launched on the PSP in 2009. Taking place between the Insomniac Games-developed Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, its story follows James Grayson, a British soldier who abandons the UK military to carry out a vendetta against the Chimera, the hostile alien race that has conquered much of Earth in the Resistance alternate history timeline. Bend Studio would go on to create other PlayStation exclusives, including the hit open-world zombie game Days Gone.
Though Bend Studio verified via its official Twitter account that Resistance: Retribution includes trophies on PS4 and PS5 when played via the PS Plus Premium Classics Catalog, its announcement didn't specify if the game would include the coveted Platinum Trophy. A quick check of the Resistance: Retribution page on PSNProfiles reveals that the game adds 28 trophies, including 1 Platinum, 7 Gold, 8 Silver, and 12 Bronze trophies. The presence of a Platinum trophy should make the game much more attractive to trophy hunters, who often evaluate games specifically based on whether their Platinum trophies are easy to acquire.
The trophies offered by Resistance: Retribution are mostly attached to campaign progress and are earned as players clear stages in the story. The exceptions are a set of four Gold trophies related to combat activity, such as killing a certain number of enemies, using different weapons, and even dying in combat for the first time.
