Ubisoft announced this through a tweet from the Twitter account. Calling it an “important step,” Montréal will be building on what the two India-based studios developed and will take the needed in order to “regroup on the scope of the game” in order to make it the best experience. Ubisoft gave no update on when it might come out and only said it will release “when it’s ready.” The dev team also stated it will notify players on the remake’s progress in “a future update,” but gave no time frame.
This remake has been troubled since its announcement in September 2020 when players were underwhelmed by its dated visuals that were well behind 2020 standards. Game Director Pierre Sylvain-Gires told The Mako Reactor that the title looked the way it did because the developer wanted to give it a “unique visual treatment” and wasn’t because of technical limitations. There still has yet to be footage or images from the game since its ill-received debut trailer, so it remains unclear what it looks like now.
