By contrast, Poppy Playtime’s monsters are based on children’s toys, meaning the game’s developers can go well beyond the realm of animals and humans, whilst drawing inspiration from iconic toys from history.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 was released for PC in October 2021 and later ported to iOS and Android devices. The game’s second chapter, Fly in a Web, is anticipated to be released in early spring, although no official release date has been confirmed by the game’s indie developer, MOB Games. All of Poppy Playtime’s characters are inspired by children’s toys. The game’s titular character, Poppy Playtime, is a pale-faced doll with rosy-red cheeks and vibrant red hair, similar to The Conjuring’s Annabelle doll. Poppy Playtime Chapter 1’s antagonist, Huggy Wuggy, is a fuzzy blue teddy bear with a bright red mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth.
