The Mudkip Community Day Classic in Pokémon GO is offering players the opportunity to catch large quantities of Mukip and a chance to find adorable, purple Shiny variations of the featured Pokémon. The Pokémon GO Community Day Classics are special events that feature Pokémon from previous Community Days. In January of 2022, players were able to participate in the Bulbasaur Community Day Classic, and now Mudkip has returned for a 3-hour Pokémon GO Community Day adventure.
Recently, Pokémon GO has come under fire for frustrating changes being made to important game mechanics. One of these changes has cut the duration of Community Days from six hours to three. While the shorter timeframe might encourage more players to participate at the same time, it may also make events like the Community Day Classic for Mudkip impossible for those busy on a Sunday afternoon. Additionally, changes to the Incense item spawn rates in Pokémon GO have also caused issues, with Pokémon only spawning more frequently while the player is in motion. This change has had unwelcome effects on players, impacting the ability to lure Pokémon in a situation where fans can't play Pokémon GO in a park or urban area.

However, for those able to participate, the Mudkip Community Day blog post on Pokémon Go Live shares that there will be an increased chance to catch a Shiny, purple Mudkip, as well as the opportunity to evolve a Swampert with the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon. Shiny Mudkip has a particularly striking appearance, as its normally blue skin has been switched for a bright, saturated purple.
