Meta used its second annual Quest gaming showcase to reveal a new Ghostbusters game and a Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries update, among other titles.
Mark Zuckerberg closed out Wednesday’s event by announcing Ghostbusters VR for Meta Quest 2.
Developed by nDreams and published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, the game sees players setting up a Ghostbusters HQ in San Francisco and is playable solo or in four-player co-op.
“Track, blast, and trap ghosts in gripping encounters by wielding iconic equipment,” reads the blurb accompanying the reveal trailer, which is viewable above.
“Continue the Ghostbusters’ legacy, protect the city from fiendish ghosts, and experience all the humor and frights from the beloved franchise.”
Resident Evil 4, which became the “fastest selling game in Quest history” when it released in October 2021, has today received a free update introducing wave-based game mode The Mercenaries.
It includes four unique maps, leaderboards, a customisable roster of heroes and villains and 20 made-for-VR challenges.
“Each provides a unique take on the classic Mercenaries experience – try out the knife-only challenge, or fight your way through thick fog. Unlock new enhancements to Story Mode, including unique costumes, weapon skins, and gameplay modes.”
Elsewhere in the showcase, it was announced that city building game Cities VR will be released for Quest 2 on April 28, Moss: Book II is coming to Quest 2 this summer, and Among Us VR will arrive before the end of 2022.
Other reveals included NFL Pro Era, the first officially licensed NFL game for VR, Red Matter 2, Espire 2, Beat Saber – Electronic Mixtape, and the debut trailer for The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution.
