An upcoming May Community Day for Pokémon GO will feature the Alolan form of Geodude, continuing the Sun and Moon-themedPokémon spotlights from recent events. Currently, players are in the middle of Pokémon GO's «Seasons of Alola» event, which has added numerous new Pokémon species from the Seventh Generation games. While Alolan Geodude isn't new to Pokémon GO, the chance to catch it during the May Community Day will be fun for fans of Rock-type Pokémon.
Community Days in Pokémon GO have faced controversy in recent weeks due to a change in event durations. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, the length of Community Days was doubled, creating a 6-hour window for participation. In a recent update, the changes were rolled back, leaving players with just three hours to complete Research tasks and find Shiny variations of featured Pokémon. The changes to Community Day have sparked a backlash among fans of the mobile game, with many unable to fully participate in recent options like the Community Day Classic featuring Mudkip, and the Stufful Community Day in April.

This is an earlier window than recent Community Days, which were held from 2 PM to 5 PM, and could create new challenges for those looking to participate. The event will include a chance to catch Alolan Geodude in its Shiny variation, as well the opportunity to evolve an Alolan Golem with the Fast Attack Rollout.
