is celebrating summer by encouraging players to step outside and participate in the mobile game's latest season. Now that the weather is warming up in some parts of the world, Niantic wants to see the community that's built itself around the creature-catching experience step outside and enjoy the sunshine. The latest season, which has been dubbed «Shared Skies,» will see Trainers embark on new challenges and encounter raid battles in a bid to capture some devasting pocket monsters both new and old.
Per the official blog, the «Shared Skies» season, which kicks off on June 1, will feature new events, Spotlight Hours, Community Days, and exciting raids that will star some of the franchise's most beloved Mega Evolutions.
Over the course of June, most of the five-star raids will be themed around Pokémon that dwell amongst the clouds, including Zapdos, Landorus Incarnate Form, Yveltal, and Ho-Oh. In addition to these soaring 'mons, the Mega Raids will see the long-awaited return of Mega Gyarados, Mega Alakazam, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Tyranitar, all of which are firm favorites amongst the community.
Pokémon GO Spotlight Hours give trainers the best chance to catch a particular Pokémon and its Shiny, but not in the direct way other events do.
players who prefer not to raid needn't worry because the game still has plenty of content for the «Shared Skies.» Perhaps most exciting is the Slumbering Sands event, which will run from June 7-12 and see some lazy Pokémonshine with increased spawn rates and special cosmetics. During the event, trainers can expect to encounter Drowzee, Munna, Slowpoke, and Komala alongside some bigger pocket monsters including Slakoth, Vigoroth, and Slaking, the latter three of whom can spawn with a unique visor to block out the sun.
«Shared Skies» will also see the return of the annual Fest with Niantic already selling tickets for the occasion now. Details on the event are still scarce but the developers have confirmed that those in attendance
