Niantic has announced Pokémon GO’s content updates for July, including new raids, spotlights, events, and more. Even though Pokémon GO is still pretty popular, developer Niantic is already working on several other upcoming titles that feature a similar AR and location-based gameplay loop. Apart from a brand-new and original IP called Peridot, Niantic also recently announced NBA All-World, a new basketball AR game that lets players collect basketball-related items and compete against each other.
Work on Pokémon GO hasn't slowed down, however, as Niantic has not only kept up with updates to the game but has also ramped up live events this year as well. Unfortunately, not all the updates and changes the developer has implemented have gone down well with the game’s community. While Niantic has responded to some of the backlash by rolling back some of the changes, some of which were originally implemented in response to the pandemic, some of them may be here to stay. Just last week, the studio announced that the upcoming Pokémon GO Ultra Beasts will be locked to in-person events.

Niantic has revealed that Pokémon GO players can expect Articuno, Mega Charizard X, Zapdos, Mega Charizard Y, Moltres, Mega Pidgeot, Dialga, Mega Gengar, as well as their respective shiny versions to appear in raids in July. Two of the eight Pokémon will be available each week. A Raid Hour will also be hosted every Wednesday that will feature Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Dialga, respectively. Similar to the Raid Hour, July will also have a Pokémon Spotlight Hour every Tuesday and will not only feature a specific Pokémon but also a different special bonus during each event.
