Pokémon GO has updated its Field Research Tasks for the month of July 2022, giving players the opportunity to receive new items and seek new encounters. To receive a Field Research Task (accessible via the binoculars icon in the bottom right corner of the screen), spin a nearby Pokéstop. Any of the Field Research Tasks can be trashed and swapped out for new ones, if the player deems them to be too difficult or too costly. For completing a Task, players will earn specific items, Pokémon encounters, or Mega Energy, which is typically locked behind Pokemon GO's difficult Mega Raids.
Every month features a new set of rewards for completing similar Field Research Tasks to the month prior. These tasks usually focus on the core areas of the game. For July 2022, alongside new event Pokémon, Field Research Tasks revolve around catching, making throws, powering up, hatching eggs, and more. To complete the task, follow the specific instructions listed and then return to the Tasks page, and claim the reward.

Completing a Field Research Task every day allows players to earn one stamp toward the Research Breakthrough Reward, a set of items and an exclusive Pokémon that is typically more difficult to encounter, a time-sensitive part of Pokémon GO's July Events. Though the player can only earn one stamp per day, completing as many tasks as possible still grants rewards. For July 2022, earning 7 Field Research Task stamps will reward the player with a Lickitung encounter, which can be found shiny at a rate of 1/500.
Pokémon marked with * can be encountered as shiny.
These research tasks are available throughout the month of July 2022, until August 1st, 2022 at 1pm PST. Players have
