Microsoft is testing a new widget in Windows 11 aimed at highlighting the content available with a PC Game Pass subscription.
The Game Pass widget is currently only available in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25174(Opens in a new window), but it seems likely this will make it to all Windows 11 installations eventually.
Widgets are small windows that show dynamic information on your desktop either by pressing the widget button on the taskbar or by using the Win + W keyboard shortcut. For the Game Pass widget, the content shown will be the latest game additions, games leaving soon, and highlighted gaming categories on the service.
If you see something you like, click the widget to load the Xbox app where games can be downloaded and installed. That's assuming you are signed up and have PC Game Pass account, of course.
Making the Game Pass widget visible in the preview build requires opening the widgets board, then clicking the + icon next to your profile, then + again next to the new Game Pass option. The Game Pass widget will then appear on your board and start dynamically updating its content so it's always up-to-date when you view it.
Microsoft is asking for feedback on the Game Pass widget specifically from Windows Insiders who are PC gamers. They are open to suggestions for improving what the widget displays, but also want to know if there's any unexpected behavior.
