Back in June, Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase event revealed many fresh and exciting new games releasing on Xbox consoles and PC within the next year, including a few titles from developers many had not expected to see at the event. One of these titles was High on Life, the next game from Squanch Games, developer of VR games such as Trover Saves the Universe, founded by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. Very little of the game has been shown since its release, however now it has been announced that High on Life will appear at next week's Gamescom Opening Night Live event.
High on Life has been described by Roiland as an "action-adventure comedy Metroidvania first-person shooter." The game is based in a world where humans have been captured by alien criminals who are attempting to sell them on the black market as drugs. The player takes the role of a human bounty hunter who teams up with a talking gun to free the humans. The game features various alien worlds to explore and multiple guns for the player to equip, some of which are voiced by various cameo voice actors such as Smiling Friends creators Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack.

With a release date already firmly set for October 25 and a confirmed day one release on Xbox Game Pass, fans are eager to see more of High on Life. Thankfully, they won't have to wait long as host Geoff Keighley has confirmed that the game will feature at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 23. High on Life joins previously announced titles such as Return to Monkey Island and Sonic Frontiers as confirmed games for the show that will stream live from Cologne, Germany.
