Gamescom 2022 kicked off with its Opening Night Live presentation, where host Geoff Keighley helped showcase a wide variety of games. Gamescom Opening Night Live wrapped up with the Game Awards 2022 date, confirming that gamers will be able to tune in to this year's event on December 8. Not only did this announcement let everyone know when The Game Awards 2022 will take place, but it also gave considerable credibility to a huge Call of Duty leak, particularly as it pertains to Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
Prior to The Game Awards 2022 date being announced, what's alleged to be an internal document from Activision Blizzard leaked online. It was then shared on Reddit and picked up by Charlie Intel, which tweeted a screenshot that essentially shows Activision's road map for the rest of the year. The leak claimed that The Game Awards 2022 would take place on December 8 and feature Diablo 4, and while it remains to be seen if Diablo 4 will be at the show, we now know the leaked date was accurate.
New Call of Duty Game Mode Could Be Launching Alongside Warzone 2
Since The Game Awards 2022 date was accurate, it stands to reason that the other dates listed could be correct as well. Most of the dates in the document are ones that fans already knew, like the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2 release dates, but the potential Call of Duty: Warzone 2 release date was also listed. Activision has yet to show off Call of Duty: Warzone 2 in any capacity, let alone announce its release date, but if the document is correct, it seems fans will be able to play the battle royale come November 16. Again, this has not actually been confirmed at the time of this writing, so fans should still treat the information with a grain of salt
