Being its very last season, Call of Duty: Warzone Season Five lends one final shake-up to the battle royale with content for every type of player. The update not only supplies new cosmetics through its Battle Pass, it includes a Search and Destroy-style game mode, four new items, and an energy blaster. Of course, it also introduces a collection of weapon buffs and nerfs, such as its dramatic change to Marksman Rifles.
Aside from the return of Raul Menendez, the most notable addition to come from Season Five is surely the new EX1. Despite being listed as an assault rifle, this weighty weapon is actually an energy-based blaster that trades in the reloading mechanic for a cooldown time. Though, Warzone dips into sci-fi even more with the debut of the Rage Serum Field Upgrade item. The serum significantly boosts player movement while also supplying a 50% increase to melee damage to those who find it.
In terms of what’s new in Caldera, its Peak location now bears lava throughout its mountain, an element said to heavily damage any player who touches it. The map also becomes the exclusive home to new LTM Operator: Last Call, a mode tasking four 20-player teams to find and detonate bombs around Caldera. Although it takes inspiration from the Multiplayer’s Search and Destroy ruleset, players will have access to their loadout from the start and an unlimited amount of respawns.
Markman rifle enthusiasts should expect to benefit most from the update’s weapon adjustments. Each weapon in the category will now take assault rifle ammo, ultimately impacting a variety of their stats. For instance, the ADS times of the SVT-40 and M1916 have been greatly decreased, while the G-43’s minimum damage has been buffed from 28 to 31.
