Asta may have been able to destroy half of Lucifero's body earlier on, but there was nothing easy about the victory. Unlike most shonen heroes, Black Clover's Asta had to be protected by multiple captains after Lucifero knocked him down effortlessly. Then, when Asta managed to cut off one of Lucifero's horns by attacking the devil from behind, Lucifero fell into such a rage that he stomped Asta into unconsciousness, causing Asta to lose his Devil Union. And even when Asta forced himself back onto his feet, Lucifero prevented his second sneak attack from behind before Nacht, Yami, and then Zora consecutively jumped in to protect Asta again. Even when Asta and Liebe were later able to form a perfect Devil Union, they couldn't defeat Lucifero. It was only when Asta wielded Yuno's Star Magic.
