The Pokemon fan community is by far one of the most creative fandoms in all of pop culture, regularly creating an array of different types of artworks featuring their favorite characters. While its common to see plenty of fan art feature fan-favorites like Pikachu, Charizard, or Bulbasaur, one Pokemon is somewhat surprisingly racking up quite a number of fan-made creations: Mimikyu.
A dual-type Ghost/Fairy Pokemon first introduced in Generation 7, Mimikyu is a rather interesting Pokemon that, as its name suggests, mimics Pikachu by wearing a semi-convincing cloth resembling the mascot. While its true appearance and origin remain a mystery, Japanese Pokemon fans have come up with a disturbing theory explaining Mimikyu's true nature.
Pokemon Fan Makes Incredible Mimikyu Wood Carvings
Posted onto a Pokemon subreddit, a user by morbidly called u/ShankYourself showcases their impressive horror-themed Mimikyu fan art. The image shows Mimikyu in a corner, illuminated by a flashlight on the floor while holding a large kitchen knife. Shocked eyes can be seen in the reflection of the blade, indicating this Mimikyu is not messing around. Mimikyu's name is repeatedly written on the walls in blood, along with the words «Sabrina wuz here,» likely a reference to the original Saffron City Gym Leader.
The pair of unused Poke Balls on the ground could mean that the current trainer is about to have a lot more trouble, or perhaps even a prior trainer having met their fate at the hands of the creepy Pokemon. Either way, the artwork greatly succeeds in its horror theme, creating quite the ominous scene with Mimikyu.
