Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 2, Episode 7 — «Monsters»
The Borg Queen (Annie Wersching) is repeating her exact Star Trek: First Contact plan in Star Trek: Picard season 2. With its main storyline involving time traveling back to 2024 Los Angeles, Star Trek: Picard season 2 has made several nods to past films like Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and the Star Trek: The Original Series episode «Assignment: Earth.» But when it comes to the Borg Queen, she's using her new human avatar, Dr. Agnes Jurati (Alison Pill), to do what she couldn't do in Star Trek: First Contact: assimilate Earth in the 21st century.
Star Trek: First Contact introduced the Borg Queen (Alice Krige), whose diabolical plot was to time travel in order to conquer a defenseless Earth. The Borg Queen chose the pivotal date of April 5, 2063, as her point of assault as that was the historic day Zephram Cochrane (James Cromwell) made humanity's first warp flight, which led to First Contact with the Vulcans. Thankfully, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) saved First Contact. Picard led the USS Enterprise-E to follow the Borg to the 21st century and stop their plan. Crucially, Picard was able to confine the Borg to the Enterprise and prevented them from putting boots to the ground on Earth. Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) led an away team in Boseman, Montana to ensure Dr. Cochrane's flight of the Phoenix went off as history intended while Picard battled the Borg and defeated their Queen.
